Mac Mini Vault is a part of CyberLynk, a data center company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We offer Mac data center services out of CyberLynk’s MKE1 facility. The MKE1 facility has three data center build outs, with plenty of room to grow. CyberLynk engineers are onsite at MKE1 and are experienced with macOS and Mac hardware, along with Windows, Linux, VMware, and Cisco technologies. Because CyberLynk owns and manages MKE1, it gives us the flexibility to build our specially engineered Mac mini colocation cabinets for high-density Mac mini hosting.
Our design allows for efficient hosting of up to 140 Mac minis per cabinet. Within the past five years we have built out 16 Mac mini colocation cabinets. The Mac minis sit within specially designed chassis allowing for organization while also sliding to provide easy access for hands-on support. The slots in the chassis are cataloged by specific location. Each slot is assigned a static IPv4 address, an IPv6 network, a user-controllable power outlet, and a 1Gbps network switch port. Additional IPv4 addresses are available at an additional cost. All network traffic is graphed and viewable in our customer portal.
Fiber and Bandwidth
Our colocation facility is equipped with reliable upstream internet access by way of redundant fiber paths connected to diverse, industry-leading bandwidth providers. These high-capacity fiber connections are combined with efficient BGP routing equipment powered by Cisco to ensure unrivaled performance and availability. Our network is optimized with Noction IRP to ensure outbound network traffic takes the quickest route. It is this world-class fiber optic network that enables us to offer bandwidth capacity at the most competitive prices. We are the first and only Mac mini colocation service to offer native IPv6 service.
Our internal fiber backbone consists of 10Gbps connectivity between our edge and core network layers. The edge and core network layers are built using Cisco 6500 series switches. Each Mac Mini Vault cabinet has 2Gbps+ of connectivity with multiple paths to our core network layer. This connectivity can be upgraded to 10Gbps+ for special custom build-outs.
There are many factors that go into choosing a colocation facility, and security is among the factors that cannot be overlooked. We have developed a comprehensive security framework that covers both the interior and exterior of our facility. The Milwaukee datacenter has experienced personnel onsite, in addition to advanced electronic systems that help control access to the building. We utilize the full power of the CyberLynk family to include products and services from our sister companies, some of which specialize in the security industry. Physical access is completely controlled by RFID and monitored by IP security cameras.
