How are Ubuntu servers configured by default?

By default, we configure Ubuntu servers with default settings that you might find when installing from a Ubuntu LTS Server ISO locally, with a few exceptions.

• LVM partitions, most space allocated to “/”
• “administrator” user with sudo/root privileges
• Fail2ban installed with default settings (only SSH failed logins are monitored, IPs with 5 failed logins in the last 10 min are banned for 10 min)
• mbpfan installed to regulate system fan speed on Macs
