We feel the need. The need … for speed. We just upgraded our fiber backbone to 10G, installed some new Cisco 6500 series switches, and added another upstream provider in our data center. To celebrate this we added a new item to our sign up form. If you are purchasing a mini from us, we can upgrade the hard drive to a 120GB SATA III SSD for $150. This drive will hit a max read speed of 550 MB/s and and write speeds to 500 Mb/s. Running an SSD drive will reduce I/O latency, which will help with snappier database queries, blazing fast virtual machines, and an over all speed boost on the machine.
Just a few of the details: Ordering the SSD upgrade will delay your order deployment a little bit while the drive is being installed. This price is only available for new Mac mini orders. Existing customers ordering an additional mini can take advantage of this offer. This is a limited time offer while supplies last. Your original hard drive is kept with your packaging or can be shipped back to you at an additional cost. Currently stock of SSD drives are OCZ Vertex 3 SATA III models, but we may use different drives in the future depending on availability. This offer can be used with our ‘split the cost‘ promotion as well.
